Our October 2024 Akhal-Teke of the Month nomination period has ended!
Our nominees for the “Akhal-Teke of the Month” award are as follows, with information and photos shared by nominators.
Raindancer
“Raindancer, a 2017 gelding by Tay Shael x Tulah, has been paving the way for Akhal-Tekes in the sport of Working Equitation in North America as the first Akhal-Teke to hold an USAWE recording. Already 3 other Akhal-Tekes have tried the sport inspired by Raindancer’s accomplishments on the continent. Raindancer has been collecting ribbons especially in the dressage and speed categories. In the last year he also won recognition as Highpoint Speed Champion and was awarded the Publicity and Competition horse awards from the Akhal-Teke Association of America. Outside the competition ring, Raindancer also helps work cattle–a rare and refreshing sight that demonstrates Akhal-Tekes’ extreme versatility. Raindancer is always so relaxed, willing, and observant making him an excellent and reliable partner horse.”
Asgard
“Asgard (2019, Anji-Han - Yablonka), bred by Vera Trunova and owned by Franzi Nigitz, may currently be the only breeding stallion in Austria. He has been an active competitor this year with his progress regularly shared online in sporting videos and photos. He so far is enjoying a successful eventing career, and earned a nice second placing this past July. Asgard demonstrates easy, powerful movements and takes obstacles with focus and confidence. I love watching his progress, and he is inspiring as a young Akhal-Teke in the eventing sport.”
