Akhal-Tekes have completely spellbound me since meeting my first in 2017! My mother inspired an early interest in the breed through old Thoroughbred bloodline research and work with the Nez Perce tribe, painting a vision of a “metallic golden stallion” stepping down the ramp of a foreign ship. And it when I finally met one, a golden palomino no less, it was so surreal. Ever since, I’ve been totally captivated by their otherworldly spirit and ethereal beauty.
I started training in endurance racing with Jas Shearer of Magic Valley Akhal-Tekes and volunteered with the Akhal-Teke Association of America. Many AT-focused projects later, including the development of the ATAA’s online pedigree database, I joined the ATAA Board of Directors, where it is my absolute honor to help better promote and preserve the breed.

I am the owner of Arcana Akhal-Tekes with two treasured stallions: Kerkav and his half-brother Preamble (lovingly renamed “Algush”), who are both sons of the very first AT mare I fell in love with: MV Fergazel. The former has become my heart horse and a social ambassador for the breed, and the latter is currently under lease to pursue a career in cross country. I also work with a very special Akhal-Teke gelding, MV Patrickhan, in classical dressage and energetic riding. For the last 2 years I have explored and tapped into the mind, body, and spirit connections and healing between horse and human–work; I believe the Akhal-Teke is uniquely attuned for this work.
After finally attending the European Akhal-Teke Championships this last year, I have felt so inspired to further foster engagement, opportunities for interaction, and collaboration across the global Akhal-Teke community. And, ultimately, decided to launch this platform: Akhal-Teke Community International. My hope is for it to help build connections and support for other Akhal-Teke lovers like me around the world!
