Great horse in the FB topic he mentioned a site, unfortunately the link doesn’t work or exist anymore! I hoped to see al or more of his horses
@SonPhi Tito Pontecorvo posts many wonderful photos of his horses and their offspring over the years on his facebook. Highly recommend looking through his albums there.
He also published a coffee table book with more great photos and info on the Akhal-Teke breed! If you have trouble finding a copy let me know. I’ve seen them for hardback sale online but I know sometimes they go out of stock for a while. Maruk is the cover photo horse. ![]()
Thank you so very much! On FB there are more then 1000 pics and more of very interesting information about mister Pontecorvo to be found! What an interesting and incredible persons he and his wife are. With his dad as a great scientist back in the day of communism (still is in a way). In my believe he’s the founder and main breeder of AT in the US, am I right? A bit like our Argamak Stud farm with Baron and baroness Vos van Steenwijk, also the first ones who introduced the Akhal family in the Netherlands
The Pontecorvos have done much for the breed. Their contributions are undeniable, a legacy that continues today.
I am not sure of the timeline but you may find this an interesting read about the Case family too, who were the first Americans recorded to import ATs to the US. ![]()

Both families surely have had a far reaching impact on the contemporary history of Akhal-Tekes in N America.
