Year-End High Point [Award Program]

:1st_place_medal: ATCI Annual High Point Awards

We want to celebrate Akhal-Teke horses around the world who are actively showcasing the breed’s potential in competition sports! At the end of the year, community nominated Akhal-Tekes AND Akhal-Teke partbreds with the highest achievement in selected disciplines will be recognized with our first High Point Awards. We hope these awards will not only increase the visibility of our Akhal-Teke athletes–and further spotlight the Akhal-Teke as a successful performance breed–but that it will also help collect more amazing achievement stories to share with the global community.

The disciplines to be recognized for 2024 will be as follows:

  • Dressage
  • Show Jumping
  • Cross Country
  • Eventing
  • Endurance (including Limited Distance)
  • Flat Racing
  • Hunter/Jumper (Equitation, Derby, Pace, etc.)
  • Western Work (Cowhorse, Reining, etc.)
  • Obstacle Challenge (Trail, Extreme Cowboy, Agility, etc.)
  • Working Equitation

:open_book: How Will It Work

Similar to our Akhal-Teke of the Month nominations’ system, horses will be nominated by you, the community! This means that highest achievements per discipline will only be assessed from the horses that are submitted for nomination. So if you or someone you know has earned a recognition-worthy accomplishment, at any level, it is worth nominating! Submissions are anonymous and competition between nominees will only be revealed at our year-end award announcements.

Official competition records, from a recognized organization, for their achievement discipline must be shared along with horse nominations. All records will be verified during nominee assessment and the horse with the highest score at the highest level in their chosen discipline will receive that discipline’s High Point Award for the year.

 Who can be nominated? It can be your own horse or another horse you admire. It can even be multiples horses in different disciplines (one submission per horse). For a horse to be eligible, the following criteria must be met:

  • The nominated horse must be a registered purebred OR partbred Akhal-Teke with the International Russian Studbook (VNIIK)
  • The nominated horse’s achievements must have occurred within the last 12-months
  • The nominator must share a photo of the horse
  • The nominator must share at least one official competition record from a recognized organization for their chosen discipline
